Roof Sit was bigger and better than ever this year!
In addition to the WKFR DJ’s and our therapists sleeping and 
broadcasting live from the Roof, we had some new special events at the site. Roof Sit opened on Thursday night with a fantastic dinner and auction. Over 200 people gathered under the tents to enjoy a delicious dinner served and donated by Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Guests had the opportunity to bid on some wonderful items in a 1 in 10 auction. The evening also included live music, a bouncy for the kids, and a race car! It was a high energy kick-off for an important event. Even in the rain, Friday night was livened up by music and dancers in the first-ever Roof Sit Dance Off. Saturday featured the soon to be famous Glamorous Girlfriends Party, which turned into a real happening. Local professionals volunteered their time to come down and provide manicures, makeup, haircuts and up do’s, with all proceeds going to Roof Sit. Stampin’ Up was there offering guests the materials and instructions to make their own cards too. Everyone looked glamorous that day!
As all of this activity was going on, we had well over a hundred volunteers helping us over the 3 day period, answering phones, walking around with buckets collecting donations, and pumping gas for tips at local Shell stations. We are so grateful to the radio station, all of our wonderful sponsors, donors and volunteers. With your help and support, we raised $68,891. These funds are used to support our programs that treat and prevent child abuse and neglect – The Children’s Advocacy Center and the Infant and Parent Services Programs.
