Brief Description

Community Healing Centers is looking for a dependable and trustworthy Community Liaison Support Specialist to join the Ninas del Corazon “Girls of the Heart” After School Program.

This position will partner with the Ninas del Corazon Coordinator and staff to maintain daily programming. The Specialist will bridge the gap between the program, the parents and teachers and will advocate for the clients and their parents. The Specialist will be flexible, resilient, trustworthy and adaptable to various roles and tasks; caring and dedicated to the community with a focus on program improvements and success. The Specialist will be an integral part of our new program in the Kalamazoo Community.

The position is M-Th, 20-25 hours per week with early evening hours, required.

The Bilingual-in-Spanish Specialist must be dependable and trustworthy with an understanding of the background and culture of the community being serviced.

Job Responsibilities

  • Attend all meetings, as required.
  • Complete and maintain all required training.
  • Become a Certified Driver through Metro-Transit.
  • Provide youth transportation.
  • Submit monthly Metro Van requests.
  • Oversee and/or assist with daily operations.
  • Record and monitor daily and monthly program attendance.
  • Comply with Privacy Policies and Laws.
  • Perform various office duties.
  • Monitor member grades and school participation.
  • Respond to referral and emails in a timely fashion.
  • Work closely with the program Coordinator on the program’s budget.
  • Provide advocacy information and referrals to the program’s families.
  • Assist Program Prevention Associate with EBP practices, as needed.
  • Foster and encourage equity for diverse populations.
  • Build a strong rapport and working relationship with all program staff and the community.
  • Keep the program coordinator and partners informed on program functions and operational concerns.
  • Assist in the coordination and attend events, functions and fundraisers affiliated with the Ninas del Corazon “Girls of the Heart” After School Program, in partnership with El Concilio, Community Healing Centers and other community organization events.

Education requirements, certifications, work experience

Education:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred. Equivalent experience considered.

Experience:

  • Experience in Community Outreach, Public Speaking, Cultural Competence and Program Development, preferred.

Required Job Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bilingual in Spanish, required.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to complete a criminal child abuse/neglect background check.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the developmental needs process with youth and adults.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationships with members, families and community representatives.
  • Diversity skills, practices and awareness, are essential.
